On August 13th, Qualitell Electric Technology Co., Ltd. of Shenzhen joined hands with Pengrui Haoyuewan to hold a public-welfare donation and smart mosquito-killing system hand-over ceremony at the Star Art Museum of Pengrui Haoyuewan. The two parties announced the joint building of Shenzhen’s first “Mosquito-free Community”. A total of 1,600 suction-type mosquito traps worth over RMB 660,000 were donated to the Shenzhen Charity Federation, leveraging technological strength to help Shenzhen build an intelligent prevention-and-control network against mosquito-borne diseases.
Rooted in Shenzhen for more than ten years, Qualitell has long focused on mosquito-control research and set up its Mosquito Biology Research Laboratory in 2013. In recent years, the enterprise has kept developing innovative products while expanding domestic and overseas markets. In 2024, the company independently developed a solar-powered mosquito trap with purple-light luring technology. Equipped with purple-light attractant sources, the device boosts the trapping rate of blood-sucking female mosquitoes to 8 times the original level.
At the ceremony, representatives from Qualitell and Pengrui Group jointly handed over 1,600 indoor-outdoor suction-type mosquito traps to the Shenzhen Charity Federation. These devices will be distributed by the federation to institutions serving vulnerable groups, including disability service centers, elderly-care facilities and children’s welfare homes.
“Having been rooted in Shenzhen for over a decade, our enterprise bears the responsibility to translate technological innovations into forces safeguarding public health,” said Qin Xinzong, representative of Qualitell.
Going forward, the company will focus on developing precise visual-recognition technology targeting different mosquito species. It will also provide long-term monitoring data and mosquito-density analysis reports to support early-warning and prevention work for regional mosquito-borne infectious diseases.
The ceremony also launched the construction plan for Shenzhen’s first “Mosquito-free Community”. Qualitell customized a mosquito-control deployment system centered on its flagship product MK-C1-10W for Pengrui Haoyuewan. Integrated with purple mosquito-attracting lamps and solar power modules, the system stores solar energy in daytime and activates purple-light mosquito trapping at night. Covering public zones of the residential compound, it intercepts and captures mosquitoes at source to reduce breeding risks and disease transmission, delivering safe, efficient, eco-friendly round-the-clock “mosquito-free” protection.
The MK-C1-10W adopts purple-light trapping technology. Specific-band purple light draws female Aedes mosquitoes (including Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti), major vectors of dengue fever and chikungunya. Fitted with solar panels for off-grid outdoor power supply, the device greatly improves outdoor mosquito-control efficiency.
Shenzhen is currently in a critical phase for the prevention and control of mosquito-borne infectious diseases, with local enterprises actively fulfilling social responsibilities. According to Huang Yonghua, Deputy Secretary-General of Shenzhen Charity Federation, as of 9:00 a.m. on August 13, the federation had received more than RMB 4 million in donations and over 47,000 pieces of materials (valued at approximately RMB 2.44 million), offering solid support for local mosquito-borne disease prevention work.
